The electricity generation sector has undergone significant changes in the last 25 years. In the early 1980s coal generation provided over 90% of the India’s electricity, the nuclear industry accounted for 2%, and the remainder was made up from hydro and small thermal plants. Since then a lot of water has flowed under the bridge. New sources have been commissioned and some of the older ones have closed. Generation from renewable sources has also become more widespread, however the conventional sources are still used extensively.
For Power generation, we at Premier would still be open to looking at conventional sources like Coal, Gas, Lignite, Oil and Coal Mines. There are many ways today by which these sources have become less polluting – like gasifying. Premier would be looking at associating with these companies for spreading light through the country.
